if and when you sell up the new buyers will want to see a certificate proving your roof has been done the right way.
the roofer doesn�t need to sort this but if I�m honest they should. Times have changed and to many people doing things wrong. It will set you back around �260 but well worth it in my book.

I usually tell my customers to contact the council for it, some do some don't it's on them, agree with people doing things bad! Some of the stuff you see even on adverts is shocking

I know Pete if that’s their best work hate to see their worse. Getting the council involved is the way forward if you have nothing to hide.

Very true, it seems everyone is a landscaper and roof tiler now there's not enough regs in our work to demand the standard. I find some customers disappointed with our council as they don't really look at much more interested in the insulation being up to standard, helps when they sell though as solicitors like to see the paper trail

It all depends on if you change the pitch also the weight of the new tiles or slates. But most of the time no.

You may need to check with the local building control let them know it’s not normal for planing but it’s worth informing them

No but be mindful of conservation areas! Old buildings may require like for like tiles so always check if you are changing brand or type of tiles before accepting works
