Hello Katy
If you were to have any part or all of your property re-roofed then building control will need to be informed.
I know many roofing company's avoid this as it does add a little more cost to the roof renovation, however we would always recommend consulting with them as they will insure the work is done to a high standard and the correct material is used, if you decide not to inform building control and go ahead with works you could have problems when the time comes to selling the house.
I hope this helps
Regards

A complete new roof requires local council to be notified as you are doing more than 25% of your roof. And in addition to this you will be required to install the correct insulation to bring it up to new regulations. A quick email to your local authority will provide you with the information you need then you can check that whoever you decide to with for your new roofs knows what they are talking about. Good luck 👍
Yes you do if your having a new roof Katy.
if and when you sell up the new buyers will want to see a certificate proving your roof has been done the right way.
the roofer doesn’t need to sort this but if I’m honest they should. Times have changed and to many people doing things wrong. It will set you back around £260 but well worth it in my book.
You also need to make sure a like for like tile is used, if you change from slate to tiles you will need building regs as the structure will need strengthening to hold the extra weight, so it's important that you don't put more weight onto the roof
As stated above it is good practice to inform. Building regs our local council will send someone round, the main thing they look at is the insulation being up to standard, re tiling a roof on the existing structure is classed as maintenance/upkeep so it isn't essential to get it signed off but when you sell the property it will help having the paper work
