Hi here cut a bit of plasterboard square in shape an inch past the visible damage place it over the damaged area and trace it with a pencil then cut out the section with your knife or padsaw cutting on the outside of the lines if there is no joist for fixing too cut 2 lengths of timber 25mmx12mm an inch longer than the hole then fix the 2 lengths of timber half into the ceiling and half exposed to fix the plasterboard too screw it up skrimm tape the joints and apply plaster smoothing and polishing on setting leave for 3 /4 days and paint a good plasterer should do that for around £60-£80

Firstly wouldn't travel 3 hours for a job that size 40 mins at the very most if I was travelling 3 hours I would want at least £180 as that's taking most of my working day I only work local no just that its a single skim 13 x 13 inch a few millimetres flatten then clean ma tools put everything in my van an go back after 40 mins and give it a quick polish it's a small repair no a full wall so an hour an half tops not out to rip people off these small jobs are only beer money and it's another contact an travel I travel 20 miles from my address at the most the bigger jobs that are worth my while yes don't usually do small jobs like this as no money in it but that's how I would do the job
