If you have found that you are no longer getting the views you used to,
or wondering why you aren't getting as many views for your business as you should have here are a few things to look out for.

    1. How large is your radius set out for?
Larger radius mean you will be seen less by more local customers - If you work in more than one area add that to your membership so that you can then shorten the radius = More Views!

    2. Are you up to date?
Make sure that you keep your profile updated. Newer images and videos shows that you have completed recent works.

    3. Share your reviews
Reviews are a key part of gaining business, especially as a tradie.
Share your best reviews on other social media channels and spread the word about the service you provide.

    4. Accreditations?
What are you a member of? Chances are that if you work in a trade you will have to comply with an organisations rules or procedures.
Keep these certificates updated on Checkatrade and it will give customers more confidence in your business!

    5. Keep an eye on the Checkatrade community.
Are you in a position where you can offer help and advice to others? Then do it. People buy from people and they are more likely to lean toward a tradie that has offered some support in the past - it pays to be kind!

Personally I have taken these steps and as you can see from the chart above, this has saw us have a dramatic increase in traffic!
Give it a go and see what results you get.

Just wanted to jump back on here and post an update for anybody that was interested in getting the best out of Checkatrade.

This is the results of the second month since I made the changes.
The image above showed the first month.

As you can see it has gone up and stayed up.

Things may take time but they work if you are willing to also!

    Hi

i have done all the 5 steps and nothing - I’m not trying to put a dampener on this but it’s getting to a point I’m thinking of cancelling I've spoken with advisers and my area reduced

I enjoy this side of Checkatrade and Lauren helps with issues

all I can think of is my area is in-fluxed with roofing trades

    cheers

You are obviously doing something right, the graphs going the right way, even though it does not have numbers on it :)
I can only think you are doing extra advertising on CAT looking at the locations on your reviews. If you are it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it

Have you looked on the main CAT website to see how many other roofers are in your area? Check both the town name and 4 digits of the postcode as you will get different results

I quite often check the main CAT site to see where we are on the page. This is only my opinion but if you are outside of the top 3 you won't receive any calls. For whatever reason, our contacts always come in the 1st week of the month, and then it's generally dead. But the way everyone gets rotated you should be receiving around 4 contacts per month

When I look at the other drainage companies that cover our "home" area around 70% of them are potentially paying for postcodes, this must work as it's the same companies month after month. Not sure about costs etc, but it may be worth looking into

@jason1972 Hi Jason I didn't want to show numbers as I thought that wouldn't be productive to others but I can say it is very busy!

We advertise in 2 areas on the site yes as this also helps rather than increasing the radius. I understand not a lot of people will do that just showing what worked for us 🙂

@Gareth Styles - thanks for your reply! Oh, I'm really sad to hear this as we would not want to lose you, especially not in the Community and answering the customer questions, what would I do without you?!

It's good to hear that you are taking all of the advice and following the right steps, this is a really great start. Have you spoken to other roofers in your area? You could create a post in the Community to start up a conversation and find out how they are getting on, also to share best practices! If you do this, I am happy to send a DM targeting all roofers in your area. Thanks!

@jason1972 @Blueskyguttering - thank you for your responses and for helping out Gareth! 😊
I was wondering, have you both purchased different postcodes other than the main postcode on your account?

    Kindest regards,
    Lauren
