Question: I have polystyrene tiles on my ceiling which need removing and then replastering can anyone tell me if this is possible

after removing all the tiles & adhesive blobs
the ceiling should be inspected.
if there is no wallpaper present then a good plasterer would be able to PVA. (Adhesive) & skim coat plaster
