Hi I am purchasing a dorma bungalow which was built in 1964. Rics 3 survey advises artex on stair well wall and x2 ceiling is fine, however kitchen walls in disrepair, likely white asbestos present. I Am going to fully renovate kitchen, walls etc, surveyor advises asbestos check or a contractor who will know how to remove artex safely. Is an asbestos survey essential if not would a contractor charge alot more for renovations for such a property
I would test it ,you can buy asbestos testing kits which you can send a sample to be tested, priced around £40-50 . If asbestos is present then inevitable it’s going to cost more to remove.
