Hi, we're at the stage of purchasing a 1900s semi-detached 3 bedroom house.

Building survey report has pointed out there's ongoing penetrating dampness was noted in the two rear chimney breast. Some of the neighbouring properties have damp stains in the same position on the external walls, which indicates a design flaw that will need intrusive investigations of the roofs.
​​​​​Surveyor also suggested it may be necessary to remove all chimney breasts.

We'd like to know how much does it cost for the repair of the roof, chimney breasts removal and exterior damp proofing work and turnaround time?

​​​​​​​I think that lead from the chimney enters the water, I think so or it could be the joints of the brick

Hard to see from these pictures - the leading/flashing at the base of the chimney looks like it has lifted (and potentially letting in water at the base of the chimney). The moss, unless clogging up the drains or intruding into the brickwork/gaps in tiles doesn't look like an issue to me. I'd need to fly over the roof in more detail to capture better images.

Thanks for all the comments guys, we're getting someone to have an accurate quote on this.
Surveyor has suggested to Remove the rear chimney ,adding ventilation to both, scaffolding will be around 10K.

check lead soakers
check lead back pan
check flaunching on top of chimney where chimney pots are for cracks etc
check if pebbledash on chimney is blown
