What is your profile description?
Your profile description is the first thing a customer will see when they look at your profile page. This is where you get to sell your services in more depth, telling customers what you offer and why you’re the right person for the job - so it’s really important to fill this in.
How to write your profile description
You only have a few seconds to grab the customer's attention…
UK statistics tell us that, as readers, we'll decide within the first 10 seconds of reading something if we’re interested enough to find out more, so keep your profile description short and relevant. Make sure you include the key things the customer needs to know about you and the services you offer.
What should my profile description look like?
A good profile description doesn't have to be long or complicated. Be professional, concise and friendly. 1st impressions are everything, so make sure you read it over for spelling and grammar.
Examples of what you could include are:
- Who you are?
- How long have you had your company?
- How many years’ experience do you have?
- Are you a family run business, or sole trader?
- What work do you undertake and the services you provide?
- Have you won any Awards for your workmanship that you are really proud of?
- USP's (unique selling points), maybe you offer a free consultation, or maybe you offer competitive pricing, whatever it is, include it

- Proofread and check for spelling and grammar. If it helps, pop your description into a spell checker.
- Include bullet points when talking about your expert trade skills and workmanship qualities, as they are easier for customers to digest.
- Be professional, concise and friendly.
- Make certain important words bold so that they stand out (i.e. any USP’s and years of service).
