There are grants available to CAT members to pay apprentice training costs…and a new podcast series that’s ‘all about apprenticeships’!
Are you thinking about taking on an apprentice? Would an apprentice help you and your business? Were you an apprentice and would now like to support a young person?
There has never been a better time to take on an apprentice and we want to help you every step of the way. We’re working alongside the HomeServe Foundation – a not-for-profit organisation set up by HomeServe to help grow UK apprenticeships – to support you and your business, whatever your size, whatever your needs.
The Apprenticeship Levy is a tax that bigger employers pay which can be used to fund apprentice training. Checkatrade and HomeServe both pay the Levy and this year we’re donating some Levy to a small number of Checkatrade members – which could support you in taking on an apprentice.

By taking on an apprentice, as well as helping your business to grow, you’ll be creating the next generation of skilled workers in the home improvement and repair sector, and of course, under your guidance, they’ll be trained to a high standard. We’re here to help you make it work for you.

Hosted by business journalist Georgie Frost, the ten-part series gets into all the key issues on apprenticeships and has interviews big names in business, leading apprenticeship experts, politicians and, of course, apprentices themselves (including some from the CAT network).
